Hi, I accidentally ran robocopy with the /mir switch which deleted a bunch of directories and files from my sd drive (the drive is however mainly empty after the action). Can Recuva help me try to recover any files? I have run the free version but that found only 3 files on the d drive (root directory) and no directories or anything else. Will the pro version help at all or is this task just beyond a standard recovery aides?
Doesn’t look good for you, I’ve never heard of /mir but a quick search on duckduckgo creates the following ai answer
The Robocopy /MIR command is used to mirror a directory, meaning it copies all files and subdirectories from the source to the destination while also deleting files in the destination that no longer exist in the source. This command is powerful but should be used with caution, as it can lead to data loss if not executed properly.
Yeah - doesn’t look good. But perhaps recuva can help? (unless the files are securely overwritten!)
as far as recovery goes free and pro recuva are the same, you won’t get better results by upgrading. you can try a deep scan or one for non-deleted files and you might have luck but stick with the free if you’re considering recovery.
