Wireless Adapter Not Detected

Hey guys, a little background first off: I own a Gateway laptop (believe it's an mp878? Could be way off) that has never really given me an issue when trying to connect to the Internet.

The other day I reformatted using the original retailer's installer disk (Windows XP Media Center version 2005 with update rollup 2). Everything appeared to go smoothly until I rebooted and noticed there was no longer any option for wireless connectivity.

There is no longer an icon for my wireless adapter in the system tray, no tab for it in network connections and under devices the only network adapters present are a 1394 connection and an intelĀ® pro/100 ve network connection. The network controller is yellow with a question mark, but I don't know if that's pertinent info.

I believe my wireless adapter is an intel 802.11 a/b/g/?

Long story short, I messed up and need a hand. If anyone is willing to help or point me in the right direction would really appreciate it.

Gateway laptop (mp878?)

Running windows xp sp 2

Wireless configuration is set to automatic.

Did you install the drivers for the wireless adapter?

It's an internal adapter that came preinstalled (sorry, should've specified).

I didn't receive a separate disc way back when, so I assumed they were loaded on the installer disc. Currently searching the intel website to see it I can find the correct ones.

Alright, resolved the issue. Found the right driver on intel's website that cleared everything right up. Thanks for your time guys.

Glad to hear you are all sorted now Washboard.

Welcome to the forum by the way :)
