WinXP CCleaner won't NOT run at startup

searched as best I could ... apologies if this has been addressed before,

I installed CCleaner 2.15.815 and the program runs (begins cleaning, minimized in tray) at windows startup (win xp) not matter how I set the option in options:settings.

So you have unticked ''run CCleaner at startup'' in options>settings and it still runs?

Can you check in scheduled tasks that it is not set to run at startup.

start>all programs>accessories>system tools>scheduled tasks.

If it is, right-click on it and delete.

you are correct ... "run CCleaner at startup" in options>settings is not ticked.

I have no scheduled tasks at all. CCleaner is also NOT in my Start Menu>Startup folder (either for all users or me).

And if you open CC and look in Tools/Startup, is there an entry there for CC? If there is, disable it: I have no idea how it managed to get there - previous install settings?

Bingo! I didn't think to look there. Unfortunately, I cannot disable the entry (access denied) and cannot delete it. I'm guessing this is because my IT overlords have disabled registry access. Would the slim or portable clients get around this?
