Windows XP System Restore Checkpoints

I have the latest version of CCleaner. I must have a box checked that is erasing my latest System Restore checkpoints. Any help on which "box" to uncheck to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Jim

Hello Jim and welcome to the forum :)

It is unlikely that ccleaner is responsible for this, although we did have a similar thread a while ago

Some restore info here along with a link at the top of the page to a forum area for system restore problems only.

Let us know how you go on, or if you have anymore questions.

Ccleaner may not be the cause. I have a similar problem with my Dell Dimension which appears to be linked to emptying the recycle bin. I can create system restore points, if the restore points are present the system restore process works fine. If the recycle bin is emptied, (AND there are files in it), all the system restore points disappear.

This has happened almost since the computer was new and has persisted after full reinstallation following a replacement hard disc. For the moment I have given up - I use ZDelete to avoid putting files into the recycle bin and preserve restore points as long as I can. I use ERNT to create a daily registry backup and for real disaster I use Acronis True image to make a disk image on my external hard drive each month.

I suspect the root problem may be in the Dell BIOS but if anyone has any other ideas I would be grateful.

Big D,

The "fix" for the post above you can read about here, you never know it may point you in the right direction
