Windows cant update

Greatings

After running CCleaner "fix problems" it found about 69 "prob" i checked the fix bottom without taking backup, I never had prob. before

Now I cant use windows update ( I just get a blank screen) also I cant see any Win xp pro updates in the ad remove prg. list (have tjeked the box "show win updates")

Tryed to rename my catroot folder , but it dident help

KellysKorner has various reg fixes that might do the job. #179 (right) looks promising.

If you can't see any updates listed you probably cleaned the hotfix uninstallers (tick box in the cleaners advanced section). If so then you should be fine, the hotfixes are still there, just the uninstallers have been removed.

To fix Windows Update try downloading Dial-a-Fix and running the 'Fix windows Update' section:

Thank you , the dialafix worked and very easy to use also-- IT also fixed my Windows media player- Where i got the error "intern hardware failure"

It is a great little tool and I'm glad it worked for you. It fixed Windows Update for me on one occasion when MS tech couldn't find a solution (and its created by a member of this forum ;) ).
