Windows 8 pro upgrade 39.99

I read about that too Hazel. I wonder why they are worried about it now, they have been using the name Metro since the Zune HD came out. (2009)

Great link, Hazel!

As you all full well know (or should) when MS makes a name change, it's likely litigation that causes it.

Perhaps karma is circling back around, gawking like a hawk, & preparing to rush in for all the times they licentiously grabbed domains from hard working citizens... like Mike Rowe Soft for phonetically sounding like Microsoft?

Looks like Microsoft are back tracking on the fact that you would have to purchase Media Center separately.

They are now going to throw it in free with an upgrade it seems.

It may be a little different if you use that $15.00 upgrade offer. I just went through the screens for it, and found this on the FAQ web page.

Will DVD playback work after upgrading to Windows 8?

Answer:

For customers who already have third-party playback software, the Windows Upgrade Assistant will help determine if this software is compatible with Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows 7, you will have the option to keep this software during the upgrade to Windows 8. If your PC is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you will need to reinstall the third-party playback software. Otherwise, you will need to acquire third-party playback software after the upgrade to play DVDs. Alternatively, you can acquire the Windows 8 Media Center Pack after upgrading. This pack includes the ability to play DVDs. link: http://www.windowsup.../en-US/Home/Faq
