Windows 7 Sticky Notes

There are two kinds of computer Sticky Notes. One can be downloaded from CNET, and the other comes as part of Windows 7 from Microsoft, and has nothing to do with the one that is downloaded from CNET.

My question pertains to Windows 7 Sticky Notes from Microsoft.

Question: How do you get Piriform Ccleaner to securely erase deleted Windows 7 Sticky Notes??

Note: I have a Windows 7 Sticky Note that some highly classified information got typed into by mistake. Now I want to erase it with Ccleaner using Dept. of Defense 3 times overwriting, so that this classified information cannot be recovered from the hard drive by any means.

The file you're looking for is StickyNotes.snt (Sticky.snt in vista) located in C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes\

StickyNotes.snt can be deleted safely as it'll be recreated next time you make a sticky note. But removing StickyNotes.snt will also remove any sticky notes you are currerntly using.

a)Navigate to the following location.

b)Click on Start and type C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes

c)In the Stick notes folder you will find a file called StickyNotes.snt

d)You will need the file named StickyNotes.snt

Note: If you delete StickyNotes.snt file this will delete all the sticky notes present on the computer even the new ones.

As for the secure deleting of it see http://www.piriform....leaner-settings

You can add Stickynotes.snt to the include list in Ccleaner by going to Options - Include - Add File - C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes\StickyNotes.snt

Then in the cleaner right click "Custom Files and Folders" under Advanced and click Clean

Thanks for the file location information. I dragged the StickyNotes.snt file to the recycle bin, set DOD 3-times overwriting deletion, and then ran Ccleaner. I assume that securely deleted my Sticky Note containing the classified info. I then recreated StickyNote.snt by typing "Sticky Note" into the Windows 7 Search feature in the Start menu. If I am mistaken and have not securely deleted my Sticky Note in question using the above described procedure, please post back and inform me.

Sounds like you should be all set. Glad I was about to help :)
