It took me a good half hour but was trouble free.

No way have you downloaded and installed SP1 in 5 minutes. You were joking I guess?
Unless you got the 3 or 4 updates that some seem to have gotten first and thought they were it.
I sat at my computer the whole time it was doing it's thing, it only felt like five minutes, but I didn't exactly time it. Now we'll never know
I almost fell off my chair when I read 5 minutes. It took about 40 on mine, but even on an ultra-powerful computer I would still expect around 30 minimum.
Maybe time got away from me at any rate, (perceptibly) quick and painless install, no problems at what not.

Same with me it took me around 45 minutes.
It took about an hour on mine JUST for the download, don't know why, since I have a great internet connection. Then the install itself only took a few minutes.
It took a long time to download on my computer too...I guess Microsoft's servers don't have enough bandwidth.
...on second thought, I wonder what amount of bandwidth it takes to deliver a 1 GB update to hundreds of millions of computers
Well MS was also pushing WindowsPhone7 Update at the same time (which seems silly to me they have 3 other tuesdays per month where they could have pushed that)
