I haven't personally this reported, and I'm not able to reproduce it, but I'll definitely be interested to see if anyone else is running into this issue.
Is this occurring with any other software? Were any changes made to the computer's software environment (like changing the security software in use) at the same time?
Uninstalling the Recuva software should take it out pretty cleanly; you could then go to the Program Files folder and, if a Recuva folder still exists, delete it, and run a Registry Scan in CCleaner to select and delete any thing that might relate to Recuva.
(There shouldn't be much, if anything, but just to be on the safe side.)
