Hello. My PS3 recently had an issue. I cannot play, as the drive got corrupt. I'm wondering if I can salvage my save files using this software.

It seems the deep scan will not be of assistance to me, due to the file types being .PFD .SFO and .SAV, and I need the file names intact at the very least. Folder structure would be ideal. They were not deleted, and I'm fairly sure they are not corrupt. Just the boot sequence of the HDD became corrupt.
Will this software still be able to salvage my data, even though it's not a windows-based HDD?
Probably not Fat32, well not the Fat32 used by Windows PC's at least, I don't think it's Fat32 however. I also don't think there's much hope restoring from it from within Windows, but what do I know. Some reading on it starts here.
Whatever the outcome may be you should really buy a USB stick just for your game system(s) for the sole purpose to backup the game saves onto it regularly. From the USB stick you can also copy the game saves (better to ZIP the whole PS3 folder) onto your computer for another known good backup.
Thanks. I read the forum in your link. It was of little assistance to me, however. I did find the file system information insightful, so thanks for that. I will try to recover the data with this software. I did find someone doing the same thing here:

I've used Recuva for an old Windows HDD that had physical and logical errors. I got 99% of my data back. Hopefully the results for this will be the same.
I've had the exact same issue as you about 3 years ago playing GTA 5 on PS3 since it would lock up and freeze allot, and where it gets stuck trying to fix the file system is exactly what I experienced how you've explained it on that other forum:
Now every time I boot, it says "The file system on the system storage is corrupted and will be restored" like normally.
I refused to format my PS3 because it's too much of a time killing pain in the ass to reinstall all the games, however what I did do was kept at it and eventually it successfully fixed the file system after probably 2 or 3 days messing with it. Note that I eventually unplugged the power cord and that seemed to allow it to finally finish fixing the file system.
When I had that issue the only "corruption" if it could even be called corruption which I noticed was video files stored on the HDD - only the videos I had manually renamed after they were on the PS3 had really goofed up file names but they played fine and that was the only "corruption" I encountered and the PS3 still works fine as I use it daily as a video player (and it's a better video player than the PS4).
So in short perhaps keep at it a while longer trying to get it to finally fix the file system, it can be finicky about it but may eventually fix it - you can also manually invoke the fix for it via the Safe Mode by plugging in the controller to the charging cable in port 1 and then hold down the power button for several seconds until you hear it beep a second time.
Don't need to be smart about it, I think you fully understand what I meant - unplug it from power, and then plug it back in. And that advice works on the PS4 too when a game crashes it so bad it won't even start.
Why won't Recuva recognize the HDD to scan? I obviously plugged the HDD correctly to the motherboard. I further tested this using other recovery software- the HDD shows up just fine, but not on Recuva?
And if you say “just restart the PC and try again”…don’t bother replying, please. This question is addressed to no one in particular.
