In the past, ccleaner would clean ALL temp folders, like in the past. There is NO option now to select any additional folder, such as for firefox or thunderbird, etc….
In custom clean Firefox will be under browsers, if it is installed in the default location. Thunderbird should be under applications on the first tab
CCleaner doesn’t remove all temp folders because some files are in use by running programs or protected by the system.
It also avoids certain locations to prevent breaking apps or Windows functionality.
Thanks… There is NO applications tab…
Thanks… but Thunderbird is NOT listed there…
is your thunderbird profile in one of these locations
THUNDERBIRD_PROFILE_FOLDERS=%appdata%\Thunderbird\Profiles,%localappdata%\Thunderbird\Profiles
Here are the rules for Thunderbird (did you check the browser tab maybe it’s there)

So it’s definitely able to clean, i’d think it should work if your profile’s in the right place
Hi, where did you find all of that??? In the previous version, ccleaner had NO problems cleaning out the thunderbird cache.
The rules and locations come from ccleaner.ini in the ccleaner program folder.
I just installed Thunderbird and made a default email and my profile is in the listed place and Thunderbird is NOT found anywhere is custom clean.
@Laurence_CCleaner this is very bad, can someone look into this ASAP. I’ll keep thunderbird on my machine til 7.9 comes out incase you need me to run tests.
@vtrasikis thanks for pointing this out and bearing with the amount of time it took me, a user like you, to install the client and check this out for myself.
@Laurence_CCleaner This seems to be a fault in the detect key. When trying to clean (although the app is not listed) when the “your app is open do you want us to close it” warning comes up it gets hinky
With Thunderbird open ccleaner shows “select all” check box but no thunderbird
With thunderbird closed
no select all checkmark
Hi All,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
I have sent this over to the development team to review and fix the issue. At this time, I am not able to give a time frame on a fix, but I will update this thread when I have more details on a fix.
