So an audio file disappeared, literally. I didn't (that I know of) delete the thing, it's just not there. And on my browser's (Chrome) download list (I'd downloaded it about 10 days ago) it's listed as "removed." And no, I didn't remove it from the download list or anyplace else. And a search of my computer doesn't find the thing at all.
So I bought the professional version of Recuva and tried to find the thing. Recuva found the file name, and it tells me that it's "excellent" and "no overwritten clusters" or some such, so I restored it (to a flash drive since it says it's best not to restore to the same drive) .... and that's when I notice that it's only 26K (when it should be 250K-ish or so) and no, it doesn't open at all.
So I did a deep scan thinking that there's something hidden deeper, and came up with the same thing. 26K worth of an audio file that won't open at all (my media program tells me that it's "too small" to open).
So has Recuva just found the name of the file without the actual content? And where could the content be?
And if anyone has any thoughts about how a file just disappears (I last used it Friday afternoon, didn't use the computer till tonight, Saturday), I'll take that, too.
