Yesterday I got a message from FF saying an update had been downloaded and that it needed to be restarted to install the update. However, after it restarted I noticed I was still using version 2.0.0.2 (which is what I already had). This is kind of strange to me and I was wondering what this update was?
It could have been an extension.
If you have extensions, could it have been an update for one of these?
You usually have to restart FF afterwards.
Edit: rridgely, it`s spooky how many times we post at exactly the same time. You pipped me again.
That's the thing, I've had extensions auto-updated before and it was much different than that. What happened yesterday was exactly what happens when FF itself is update. For example, when it restarted it checked for compatibility with extensions...
Is it possible my browser has been hacked in some way?
we do post a lot at the same time.
Its not likely you got hacked(I've never heard of FF being hacked that way), but if your really worried about it reinstall firefox and make a new profile.
More than likely it was an extension.
