The anti-piracy is once again causing problem for the legitimate users.

You bought Windows for alot of money, you had to agree to the restrictive EULA and to give up your first born son, you had to type in the CD keys, you had to "Activate" Windows, and yet WGA causes problems with you.

i used a program to get rid of WGA using a program.

from now on i check what windows is installing in its updates! :D

RemoveWGA can get rid of Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications, which I think is otherwise non-removable.

Yes, that WGA thing is pretty creepy.

Got rid of it. Also used RemoveWGA just in case and read some guide about how to remove it manually.

My thoughts about WGA changed rather quickly when someone on another forum complained about his legal copy of Windows XP started stating it wasn't a legit copy. It only took that one instance of it giving someone some crap that made me think twice about it being installed on my system, thus I got rid of it.

I got rid of mine as well. My GF's parents computer had the same problem. Just glad someone developed a App. to remove it but what will microsoft do about? (Ha! Nothing at all :))

I wouldn't laugh it off just yet because they could easily change their minds and make it a required component to use Automatic Updates, Microsoft Updates website, Windows Update website, Office Updates website, or even more thorough to download any file from Microsoft Downloads.

They've already got it set that Windows Genuine Advantage must be installed to download any updates and I really don't see why they won't impose upon us all the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications.

Please stop mentioning your pirated software and how to work around windows' antipiracy efforts.
