video and download problems

for a few weeks I have not been able to play videos on youtube or any sites. or download anything. it happened around the same time I ran ccleaner for the 1st time. I am not sure it is a ccleaner issue but it seems like it.

- on sites with videos they are just blank

- anytime I try a download the error message says the same basic thing. I cannot copy/paste it but it has a big red X and says "unable to download (whatever I'm opening), Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

any help is appreciated!

Couldyou give a bit more info please so people can then offer relevant advice.

What operating system and service pack are you using?

Is it the same using another browser ?

Which browser is your default?

Are your virus scans up to date and clean?

Which build of Flash are you using? ( you can find this out by going into your control panel, clicking on Flash icon, and see what it says when clicking on the advanced tab)

Are you using the default settings of Ccleaner?

Do you use Winnapp2.ini?

hi hazlenut - thanks for the reply. I think I have the info here.

- I'm using IE - it is my default. I tried to install firefox but with this problem it stops me

- security is up to date

- adobe flash player 11 active x 64 bit

- believe I used the default settings for ccleaner

- not sure about Winnapp2.ini

What operating system are you using.. XP. Vista or Windows 7?

I'm using IE8

IE8 is your browser. To find out what operating system you are using right click on ''my computer'' and select properties.

''My computer'' will either show as an icon on your desktop or you should see it listed when you mouseclick on your start button.

ie8 leads me to suspect xp, though anything is possible!

sorry. it's windows 7 home premium and it says service pack 1

You may want to consider updating to IE9 for a start. It works well for Windows 7 and is more secure than IE8.

When you run IE8 are you using the 32bit version of IE which is on your machine, or the 64bit version of IE8?

I ask as you say you have the 64bit version of Flash.
