Version 7 installed itself. I can’t use it because a page giving information about it parks over it and will not move, I’ve uninstalled and re-installed three times, it just will not work
We’ve had lots o reports of this welcome screen issue and there’s a work round (it works for most):
Go into Windows Settings and set the display scale to 100%.
Run CCleaner 7 and get past the Welcome Screen.
Set your display scale back to what it was.
Thanks for the reply. My resolution is maximum, the welcome screen parks in front of the Ccleaner screen and will not move so I can’t use it at all
So I’ve uninstalled for the 5th time. Very annoying as I use the paid version, surely if there have been lots of reports of this problem the company should fix it. I’ve been using Ccleaner for may years, never a problem until now.
The fixed size of some windows in CCleaner has been a problem for years now, I wouldn’t expect any fix soon.
As said though change your display setting in Windows to 100% and you should be able to get past that Welcome screen.
thanks again, as I said before I tried your suggestion, my screen is at maximum, it still won’t move, I’ve had to uninstall it again
I think there is a misunderstanding here.
We are not saying ‘maximum’ - we are saying set your resolution to whatever is ‘recommended’ and your scaling to 100%.
Thanks again, I tried that. Scaling 100% reinstalled CCleaner, appeared on screen, immediately blocked out by the welcome screen, and the welcome will not move
mmm, what resolution is your device set at?
(We had a user with a low resolution device who was having a similar problem, the Welcome page was just too big to fit on their screen).
Maybe try setting your scaling to 75% or even 50% just while you get past that problematic welcome screen?
Someone did suggest another work around - That was to go offline when the welcome screen was showing,
I reinstalled today to try the ideas here, then didn’t need to!
Someone has tweaked something, a total different welcome screen (smaller too) came up and then disappeared and there was Ccleaner, working perfectly! Thanks for your time and help
Yes they do appear to be rolling out tweaks automatically in the background without saying anything about them.
That can be Bl**dy annoying when you are trying to help someone and things have been changed with no notice.
(You have no idea that it’s been changed and so can end up looking like an idiot).
It also makes users suspicious when things get changed in the background with no notice or warning. ie. If they can do that then what else is being accessed and/or changed that you don’t know about?
