I have never encountered a problem d/l a new version, however today the Version 2.27 will not do it and it says underneath the ccsetup.exe in the download window "canceled"
I am stumped and thinking wtf it always worked until now...
has anyone noticed the same problem?

If you are using one particular browser for downloading but have another browser installed, try downloading with the other one.
Also try downloading it from here (slim build perhaps)

Very much appreciate your suggestion...looks like it worked. It must have something to do with the security setting on firefox...
