v 1.07.205

Well, I suppose if 1.07 no longer supports W2K, that 'solves the problems' of v1.06.191 not recognising my NIC, saying I'm not connected, when I truely am and getting "Unknown system error: 0x8004100c" under the Ram tab. WTG :-(

I too have a Win2K system and was Very Disappointed :( when V1.07 refused to install, as V1.05 errors out in the hard disk detection on this Dell Optiplex GX150 with 20GB and 80GB Western Digital drives.

I noted today that the Speccy online doc STILL says Win2K is supported!

Can I get a copy of V1.06 to try? I can't find old versions on this web site.

Don't expect me to upgrade Windows as I cannot afford what MS extorts for an update, much less a new system.

Thanks.

Speccy 1.07 does still support W2000, so I'm interested to hear more info about the bugs you've reported.

Mr Ron, I think somebody removed W2K from sys req on Speccy's Download Page thus the confusion

System Requirements

Runs on Microsoft Windows 7, Vista and XP. Including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Sorry for the delays in getting back here it's a busy time of year. I downloaded spsetup107.exe and tried to install it on a old Dell Optiplex GX150 system running Win2K that has Speccy 1.05 on it. The V1.07 installer errored out saying "Speccy requires windows XP or later". I have since installed the portable version on this system and it does work, except for the hard disk problem. I have tried Speccy V1.07 (portable) on a second Dell Optiplex GX150 and it appears to be completely functional! (NOTE: Neither Dell system has the original hard drive in it.) I will get back with detailed hard drive info and I will try to run Speccy in debug mode.

I have read the docs on Speccy and it appears the difference between the Speccy the installer provides and the portable version is a side file; this suggests the actual .exe file is the same. I have deleted the side files from the portable installation and Speccy behaves as the installed version.

Hazelnut, thank you for the link, I didn't think to look on the mirror site. I will try V1.06, but I fully expect it to behave the same with regard to the hard disks. (This sentence added in edit.)

Happy Holidays!

Well here is the scoop on my Speccy disk problem. I ran Speccy in debug mode; every time I run Speccy with the box "Analyze HD data" checked, it fails with this error popup "Mircosoft Visual C++ Runtime Library ... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.". Whenever I run Speccy with that box not checked, it runs correctly. Enclosed is a debug log file with only the anaylze Hd data box checked, a Save as Text file with all but that box checked, and reports exported from Passmark DiskCheckup V3.0 describing the 2 hard drives in the system.

I don't know how to be of any more help than this (I have programmed 8088 based embedded systems for years but don't know anything about writing for windows.) Good luck, if I can be of further help, please let me know.

Thanks for the logs Tony.

The devs read all the posts so I'm sure they'll take a look at them.
