USB Drive Locked Following Recuva Search

Hi,

My 64Gb datastick had some folders which were corrupted. Following an attempt to scan and repair the stick (I have Windows 10 as the OS with AVG Anti-Virus Protection) I received a message to the effect that the Recycle Bin on my data stick had got corrupted and purged it before checking. Upon checking I found that the losses included my folders. Not certain how much was recoverable, I overrode my Anti-Virus protection and installed your free version of Recuva.

After a search of the folder (which took 7h 48mins) I had an extensive list of lost data files running to a size far bigger than the stick itself.

I also found that I could not access any of the data on the stick - I can see it, but cannot access below the first level using File Explorer. Similarly, when I click on a file I can see eg a word document, it will launch the application but not load the file.

Since I could access the files on the stick before the installation of Recuva; and I cannot do so now, my default assumption is that Recuva has in some way affected the data stick in some way.

Any ideas on what the problem is here amd more importantly how to recover this situation?
