Updating the burner firmware

Hi

Is updating the burner firmware with Firmware HQ serves any purpose if the burner is not faulty(that I know of...)?

Any experiences with Firmware HQ ?

Firmware updates usually improve media compatibility or correct known bugs with your drive.

If you experienced no problems with your drive then I wouldn't bother updating the firmware.

If updating the firmware make certain you're only using an official release downloaded from the manufacturer website, or if the drive is an OEM from your computer manufacturer only use the update they have. Usage of "hacked" non-official firmware can spell the instant death of your drive.

Firmware is equivalent to updating the BIOS compared to updating the software driver for your graphics card.

Yes, but some firmware updates can't be undone which is why if you aren't having any particular problems with your device it's best left alone.
