So, anyone have any conflicts with the latest Tueday updates from MS? I'm asking because I just read that scary thread Abu started last night. I know killbots are within that update. And I got that yellow triangle just dangling up there in my systray, waiting.
I installed all of them for XP, IE7, and Office 2003 and I've had zero issues.
That problem being discussed in that other thread is most likely from the improper usage of an overly aggressive registry cleaner if you read the other replies Abu posted.
I've had no problems with the latest updates, but with all changes its good to have backups.
I also had a feeling that the regcleaner Abu mentioned was the fault, but being it all happened on Update Tuesday kinda made me wary.
I'll backup & update. Thanks.
Well, it has probably been over a year since I've had any issues with updates, but let me tell you, it gave me major attitude today! I had the Vista laptop down in the basement and I was running a P90X DVD (a workout) on it and MS was doing its thing in the back round. However, after every reboot: "Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes". Upon investigation this afternoon, I discovered it was Error 80070005 (if I remember correctly). I went "deep" into Vistas' innerds and made some changes I found from searches but to no avail. I finally reverted to an AyRecovery snapshot from before I started any updates and then updated one update at a time. With all the reboots it took several hours, even though they were all already downloaded. Anyway, that worked!
