I have just updated CCleaner and downloaded Google Chrome that I definitely did not want. I must have missed an uncheck box. I do wish these people wouldn't do this. Anyway I now have Chrome. But, why does Chrome not appear in CCleaner, IE and Edge are there but not Chrome. Any thoughts please?
IE and Edge show on the 'Windows' tab, any other browsers you have, including Chrome, will show on the 'Applications' tab.
PS. Chrome can be a PITA to completely remove. Just uninstalling Chrome leaves behind hidden files, as well as registry entries.
Try Googling for further advice if you want to remove it 100%.
and to completely eliminate the chance of it happening in the future, consider the Portable or Slim builds.
Thank you, I have now found Chrome in Applications. This happened a few years ago and when I removed Chrome it completely messed up Office Outlook and that involved another trawl through the forums to get it sorted. These people (I haven't had this problem with Piriform before) should have an opt in not opt out.
I am the world's worst techie so don't want to get involved with Portable or Slim.
Thanks for your replies.
The Slim build is just the 'standard' CCleaner, but the installer for it does not have the Chrome offer included.
It is available about a week after the 'Standard' installer does. (So the latest 'Slim' will not be showing yet).
Get it from the Builds page, once it is available.

When you accept or decline the chrome/toolbar offer there is a timer set that makes sure you don't get offered chrome with updates again until after a certain number of months have elapsed.
This may be why you got caught out this time, you were used to not seeing the offer there and so missed it when it did pop up again.
Thank you, but I have unwanted Chrome now and as you say it is a pain to remove. I have had a trawl around the internet and my view is that once you are in a hole, stop digging.
I once put chrome on a laptop to try it out, didn't like it and it then took me 3 days to get rid of all traces, files, registry entries, links, etc.
(And you are still never quite sure you got it all, unless you completely reinstall your OS).
using Revo got rid of all traces of Chrome for me in one pass.
What is Revo please?
What is Revo please?
Revo Uninstaller. There's a freeware version available on the product download page:
