The dreaded KB3004394 is appearing for me today under Win 8.1 I will try installing it. I have a backup.

Indeed. Installed all the updates. No problems so far.
EDIT. We should include a Win7 remark in the thread's title.
in w8.1 are no problems, how i mean.
