Uninstall/delete program name fails

I got stung by freeware with Scorpion Saver Services and Scorpion Saver listed under Control Panel/Programs in Win 8-64. My bad. Malwarebytes gets rid of the offending files/registry entries and restores normal computer function. However these program names remain listed and can not be uninstalled (unable to locate the msi file because presumably Malwarebytes deleted it) by Windows or CCleaner. CCleaner also cannot delete the name with a warning box saying "cannot delete the MSI installer." So is this beyond the capability of CCleaner: in truth over the years my experience with this program is that it has very limited effectiveness.

Hello bmoag and welcome to the forum. Just so I understand this completely, you are blaming CCleaner for not being able to deal with a problem that was created by the use of another application, Ma;warebytes,? And in turn, this problem was originally created by you? Here, I took the time to do a Google search for you:

I suggest you take the time to read the information I provided, learn something, and take care of the problem yourself.

I use all those tools and I had the same issue. I tried Revo Uninstaller which found some registry entries for the Scorpion Saver, but the entry still existed in the Programs and Features list. I ended up fixing my issue by running the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301. When I ran the utility, I selected that I had a problem Uninstalling. It found Scorpion Saver. I was then prompted to select either "Yes, try to uninstall" or "No, try to fix". I initially tried the "No" item because I thought the "Yes" item would fail due to the MSI issue. This did not fix the issue. I ran it again and selected "Yes" and then my issue was resolved.

Hope this helps.

I didn't know they had a Fixit replacement for their old supposedly damaging MSI cleaner, thanks for sharing the link! ;)

FYI. I just downloaded that and created the portable folder. In 2012, I had saved it and forgotten it :P

Created the folder on the same computer, almost the same exact software, probably newer versions.

Nirsoft's hasher shows quite a few of the files to be different from the first time I did it. So it may have different functionality now. I didn't run it.
