Hello Forum,

As a helper on www.seniorennet.be I was confronted with the following phenomenon:

One of the posters was cleaning up the registry and reported the following:

hallo korhaantje,

ziehier het resultaat van mijn opruimen,alle problemen(bij register)zijn weg zonder gevolg behalve die bij type libraries(dat zijn wel het grote aantal meer dan 5000 problemen)die moet ik laten staan of mijn internet is weg,er staat bij cc 20100416.Enig idee hoe deze fouten ontstaan zijn en of ze kunnen opgelost worden?

So, the item type libraries contains more than 5000 items and bij removing them the internet connection is gone.

Anybody here with some good advice to help this poster?

Advice, well since there's so many of them being at 5,000 which is an overwhelming amount I'd say untick Type Libraries in CCleaner's Registry Cleaner. They surely aren't going to hurt anything leaving them in the registry, even those registered to software no longer installed.

Hi, just shoot beetle the result of my cleanup, all the problems (in registry) road without a result except for the ones next to type libraries (which are the large number of more than 5,000 problems) that I have to leave my internet is gone, with cc 20100416. have any idea how these errors, and or they can be solved?

so I take this to mean the user ran reg integ, cleaned all issue except type lib, and lost access to the internet? cc 20100416 is the name of the reg backup(?) it seems to be as that the the naming scheme. The User can restore it by opening reg edit and importing (file>import)

with out knowing what version of ccleaner and what OS that is the only help we can give

But a big part of this is NEVER EVER NEVER clean all entires (I'm going to guess the user deleted something to do with their firewall, antivirus or internet provider)

Thank you both for your reactions.

The poster's system is XP with SP3 installed.

What she did was the following:

From this survey she removed the found "registry errors" subject by subject. It all went well except by the type libraries. Over 5000 items in there and by removing she lost her internet connection. Yesterday she told me that she had used a freeware registry scanner which, after scanning, removed 100 items and the rest could be done by bying the program, which she did not (she said to me it was SLOW PCFighter).

She could repair that internet by restoring the backups of ccleaner.

Today we tried PCStress and also the new Microsoft Fixit center but without any results.

So, if nothing pops up I think we are obliged to re-install her XP.

Can she not use System Restore to go back to a point before disaster.

A good precaution is to use ERUNT to take a snapshot of the registry.

On my system it takes only 8 seconds to do this during the first start-up each day.

I never ever need it, but I know disaster will strike as soon as I am no longer protected.

Thank you for you reply. I will check wether it is possible toe go back to a system restore point before the troubles. I doubt it but you never know.

Might also help to tell her about free disk imaging software after everything is all sorted out.

You're absolutely right Andavari! But that will ben done after we've solved this issue. I'll advice her to install Paragon 10.
