Trying to recover pictures from sd card in camera

I have tried Recuva program to recover deleted files from a sd card in a digital camera.

The card has not been rewritten on or reformatted since the pictures were deleted.

I have the camera plugged in to the computer with a USB cord and the card is in the camera. The computer recognizes the camera and you see it in the listings under my computer.

When I run the Recouva program and try to choose that location it does not show up in the list under my computer. So I can't choose it.

Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help?

Thanks

The camera is seen as a Photo-Transfer-Peripheral (PTP) in order for recuva to see a drive it must mount as a drive letter.

Try taking the sd out of the camera and use it in a card reader.

Ok thanks. I was thinking that but I don't have a card reader. I also don't have the slot on my hard drive for the sd card to go into.

Card readers are extremely inexpensive and can be gotten from your local office-store/grocer/pharmacy-chemist/and-sometimes-truck-stops

Try one of these ...

One of the best things I've bought and cheap as chips. Instead of the painfully slow card reader transfer speeds, you get USB speed, and of course the card is recognized by the computer and given a drive letter.

Also on ebay ...

We only have SD cards in my house, but you can get "multi-readers" if you need one and want to google for it.

Actually, my guess is that this is instead related to the problem with recent versions of Recuva and "virtual" drive letters. Are you SURE that it doesn't show up as a drive letter?

Look and see if it does. If it DOES give it a drive letter, but Recuva still does not see it -- then this is a KNOWN PROBLEM WITH RECUVA.

Try finding and installing Recuva v1.49.1019 instead of the latest versions. It sees virtual drive letters (such as those from camera devices and/or ImDisk mounted drives) just fine.

I bet it will work for this.
