Trying to exclude System Volume Information....

I am new to using Defraggler, and I started a Defrag yesterday that went on for hours and never finished - I think I got to about 43% done before I canceled the operation. I noticed that most of the files listed in the File List tab are of the {.....} variety, and give the path as C:\System Volume Information. I've read the documentation, and many of the posts in this forum, and see that these are probably System Restore Point files that can be excluded. I've tried to do that, but I do not see that path when I try using ADD under the Exclude tab in Options. And yes, I do have "Show hidden files and folders" checked on my Vista system. So what am I doing wrong? How can I exclude these files from the Defrag?

Thanks for any help! Suz

I think I just found what I needed to exclude these files (need to UNcheck "Hide protected operating system files" to see this path), so I did this and have now excluded these files. I've restarted the defrag, and in 5 minutes have gone from 0% defragged to 24% defragged. Hoping this resolves my problem of never completing the defrag! Suz

Hi Suz, and welcome to the forum.

You're right, System Volume Information is in fact System Restore, and I'm pleased you've managed to work out how to exclude them.
