I exported the CCleaner 7 task from the Piriform folder and imported it into a new folder, naming the task “CCleaner 7 delayed start”. Delay time: 1 minute. And deleted the original task from the Piriform folder.
After a CCleaner update, I now only need to delete the original task from the Piriform folder to ensure that my modified task in the other folder works.
It was a lot easier than you made it, just edit the ccleaner one (which readds and reset the following on ccleaner update) and edit the trigger to wait 30 sec (1 min is overkill IMHO) no need to clone or delete
Wow you announced the update before @MrA did!
I just updated and my similar work around was nessecary. @Laurence_CCleaner has this been logged as a bug or are we “spitting” into the wind .
Hi @Nergal,
This issue has been reported to the development and is in the process of being reviewed so I am hopeful a fix will be soon, however as it is still in progress I am not able to give any time frame on when the fix will be added into CCleaner.
Yes, maybe my error as I thought I had steered the issue for my concern on March 17. To your point, their response to the status may be related to the issue originally stated in the thread. I just cannot figure why I keep seeing the shortcut when all my logic says it should not be there as a tray icon. What keeps starting it again and again? Should I just go into the registry and correct? Oddly enough, I just moved from the CCLeaner Win7 version 6.4 and only happens for the new 7+ versions.
Version 7 is a complete rewrite, while features are nearly the same the methods differ greatly and thus are uncomparable.
Rather than “steer” an unrelated bug thread to your issue, it would be better to start a new thread with your issue.
I will happily join in as I can but I, a simple user of the product like you, was unable to recreate this. show in tray works (both on and off) on my two installations of ccleaner ((one insider and one vanilla version 7) granting the issue at the heart of this pinned topic: a race at startup that stops the creation of the icon when not delayed for 30 seconds or more.
No worry-its a small thing and takes seconds to right click and remove it. Just so strange and cannot figure why it happens all the time although not seeing any other chatter about it. Thanks for checkin in.
