Tray Icon

Hello,

I’m writing to ask/inquire about why does CCleaner show up with its that icon in my toolbar at nearly every boot up of my computer, yet I made sure to uncheck to show tray icon as well. I even went into the Startup Apps to see if there was any type of process that started from my Windows boot up/login from CCleaner, and don’t see anything.

Hi @PTA8332,
Please send me a screenshot showingt he trey icon as well as the Show tray icon disabled.
If you open CCleaner and enable then disable the Show tray icon from the Advanced Settings menu, does the icon then disappear?
If you have any questions, please message me back.

@Laurence_CCleaner

See attached screenshot showing the tray icon and the program showing that I unchecked the option to have it in my toolbar. Ironically enough, if I click it to show, and I click it again to not show the icon, it goes away I noticed as well.

Thank you for this screenshot @PTA8332,
Please follow these steps to help us investigate the issue:

  1. Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool using the link below: https://download.ccleaner.com/CCleanerSupportTool.exe
  2. Replicate the issue on your end.
  3. Run the tool to generate the logs.
  4. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID.

Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.

If you have any issues, please let me know.

@Laurence_CCleaner I will do so as soon as I get a little free time, if not tonight/tomorrow, I definitely will one day this week and report back with the information you requested.

@Laurence_CCleaner The 5 digit File ID I show is R8939. If you need anything else, please ask, thanks.

@PTA8332, thank you for these log files.
I have passed them to the development team to review and I will message you back when I have an update.

I have the same issue. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

@PTA8332 & @WacoJohn,
We hope to have a fix for this available soon.
As it is in ongoing development, I am not able to give a time frame on when the fix will be available, but I will update this thread when I have more details.

VERY kind of you to let us know. Thank you.

@Laurence_CCleaner I updated to the most recent build/release yesterday (7.10.1464.0) and it seems that the issue may have been resolved.

@WacoJohn Not sure if you’ve updated to the newest build/version yet yourself, if not give it a try and see if it looks like the issue is resolved for you as well.

Thank you for the reply. Running v. 7.10.1464.0 Show tray icon set to off. Tray icon showing on task bar. no fix.

@WacoJohn If the icon is showing in your taskbar, right click on it and uncheck “show in taskbar”, or however it maybe worded. Then when you go in the program, towards the bottom on the left hand side, hit “Settings”, then at the bottom under “Advanced Settings” make sure “Show Tray Icon” is unchecked. If you changed that setting, either log out of your computer or reboot it, and log back in, then see if it still appears when you login. That’s the only time it appeared/populated for me, when I initially booted up my computer/initially logged in, but when I right clicked on it and unchecked “show in taskbar” it did go away, but each time I logged into the system it would reappear, but sense I updated to the new one it seems to be staying away.

Beginning with icon showing. Closed it. Already turned off/unchecked in settings. Logged off and back on. No icon on taskbar. Still UNchecked in settings. Restarted machine. Icon back on taskbar and UNCHECKED in settings.

Thank you for all the help. Maybe CC will fix it good and proper in the next version.

@WacoJohn

Odd, I’ll have to keep an eye on it myself. Granted this was the first time I logged into my system and didn’t see the icon on the task bar. I was hoping for the best. I have several different systems (both desktops and laptops) and I’ll see if there’s any difference there to, what I don’t expect any difference, but I’ve seen stranger things happen.

I have to compliment and appreciate your tenacity. Seems is it purely a CCleaner problem, and they should resolve it with an update. Thank you for all your admirable efforts.

Hi @PTA8332 & @WacoJohn,
A fix for this issue is due in the V7.11 update to CCleaner, however, as this is in ongoing development, this may change, but I will keep you posted when I get new details.
If you have any questions, please message me back.

@Laurence_CCleaner

I wanted to give an update, this morning I noticed the 7.11 update was released and it seems like the tray icon has been suppressed for the time being. I’ll update if there’s any issues I experience.

@WacoJohn Not sure if you’re still experiencing the same issue, and if you’ve updated to the new 7.11 update, but it seems like the issue has been taken care of at least at this time.

Hi @PTA8332,
I am glad to hear this issue was resolved in the v7.11 update to CCleaner.
If you experience the issue again please message me back.
