Yes i know there are scripts browser addons to do this. But they only benifit web browser highlights.

Basically can sit in quick launch or system tray. Detects any clipboard change for a valid url. Or detects one on load. Or obviouslly can manually convert.

ideas, comments flames all welcome.

gave me something to do today while another application has the log worked on.

only downside relies on the NET system libraries being installed since i code in vb.net

I don't trust those TinyURL's because they:

A: Hide the real website address from plain view, and mouse-over with the pointer.

B: Could easily go straight to a malicious site that tries to auto-infect a PC.

The main poster was linking a screenshot of an app that will create tinyurls without having to visit the site (saves time).

Evey reply is about how they can be used to mask (hide) a link to an untrustworthy site and or a virus/spyware download.

There are scripts, add-ons, more stress for FF. My main forum we get a lot of very long urls that the mods ask them to use tinyurl.

If i have it sit in my system tray it auto detects valid urls copyied to the clipboard and replaces them with a tinyurl link. so in theory i never have to do anything or touch any thing.

Obviously i might not want every copyied url to be converted so if it sits in quick launch it will auto replace the clipboard for a tiny url.

Just about time saver really, and enjoyment.
