"The parameter is incorrect"

?

It is very difficult to work out your operating system, version of Recuva used and what you were doing at the time from a question mark :)

Not too much to go on there really is there.

EDIT: You pipped me hazel.

How can we give any suggestion

None of us even know what you are asking. Your entire post consists of a title

The parameter is incorrect

and a question mark

we don't know:

When this occured (what you were doing in Recuva at the time)

What Operating System you are on

What version of recuva

or ANYTHING ELSE

I'm running version 1.38.504 on XP.

It scans the C drive.

It just won't recognize the flash drive in the USB port.

When I try to scan it, that's when the "parameter is incorrect" error comes up.

In the past I've gotten a message to "format the usb drive".

But it was formatted, until I did an OS reinstall with the usb drive in the port.

I was told that the reference files were deleted.

Anyone know how to restore them?

If that's even the problem.

Can your pc see the flash drive? If not then you could try formatting it, prefereably to the same file system as before, and see if Recuva recognises it. If yes, run a scan with the option Scan for Non-Deleted Files checked.

Any constructive suggestions?

Yes. Use some basic common sense when asking for help, and give the people you're asking some information to work on.

Some people interpret that as being a "know it all".

unless you can give us something to help you with, like replying to Augeas' suggestion or providing more information on the issue, and stop making commentary not related to the subject, then we can not help you.
