The best of Windows Software

Folks I thought the following info/list would be of assistance to many Forum members and visitors.

It should be noted that Piriform Software Applications, Defraggler, Recuva & CCleaner are included in this list.

Best 90 FREE useful software apps :P

don't we have this topic (though this list is nice) ;)

Nergal, in essence you are correct, however this list I thought may be of interest as it was a list/short description of the top 90 free Windows apps. from makeuseof.com for 2010.

So sorry to all if this has been duplicated. :(

Some things on that list are not well-known...Ashampoo Firewall? Does it protect you while you're showering?

Ashampoo Firewall has been previously reviewed before as "not good." Albeit when I last tried it which was probably two or so years ago, it did pass the GRC ShieldsUp tests otherwise I wouldn't have used it for one week.

eeeep, sorry my intent was to rib, not chide. No this is a very viable topic and I have no problem at all with it being here (and it's a mighty fine list)

There are some clunkers on that list but overall its not too bad.

Is anyone really using Zone Alarm or anything by comodo/iobit anymore?

There are a few programs that I use everyday that aren't on this list too.

Microsoft live programs(mail, movie maker, ect.) along with Zune and Ashampoo burner. These programs are much better than the ones they are recommending. (to me anyway. :P )

That list would be better if they would clearly label commercial software as a trial, case in point bitRipper which Softpedia lists as shareware.

Well now Andavari this is an example of "what the ???" and you are correct, Softpedia lists bitRipper 1.31 as shareware @ $29.95

HOWEVER Softonic lists bitRipper 1.31 as FREE.............go figure....see attached. ;)
