Task scheduler shows System cannot find file specified 0x80070002

theses are for update tasks. How to fix or can i delete?

Hi @ADGORN,
Please send a screenshot of the message you are seeing so we can advise you further.

Thanks for this screenshot @ADGORN,

To help us investigate the issue and understand what may be happening, please generate CCleaner log files by following the steps below:

  1. Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool using the link below: https://download.ccleaner.com/CCleanerSupportTool.exe
  2. Once installed, run the tool to generate the logs.
  3. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID.

Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.

If you run into any problems or have questions, please let me know.

R74DE is the File ID

status?

Thank you for these logs @ADGORN, I have passed them to the development team to review and I will message you back when I have an update.
If you have any questions please message me back.

@ADGORN Our team has taken a look and the task you are seeing is to update CCleaner Browser.
The Task Scheduler entry is configured to run the CCleaner Browser update file at the following location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner Browser\Update\CCleanerBrowserUpdate.exe

To help us narrow down the cause of the error, could you please check the following for us?

  1. Is the file CCleanerBrowserUpdate.exe present at the path above? You can check by opening File Explorer and navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner Browser\Update\ to see if the file is there.

  2. Was CCleaner Browser installed for all users (i.e. installed system-wide as an administrator), rather than just for your current user account?

  3. Are there any other user accounts on the device? If so, does the same issue occur when logged in under a different account?

  4. Are there any security applications, antivirus tools, or other software on the device that could potentially be blocking access to the file?

If you have any issues, please let me know.

No, it is located here:

Thanks for this screenshot @ADGORN, the file we are asking about is CCleanerBrowserUpdate.exe and not CCleanerBrowser.exe. Please check the C:\Program Files (x86)\CCleaner Browser\Update for the CCleanerBrowserUpdate.exe file.

My bad, sorry. No, there is no such folder nor executable as the above in (x86).

@ADGORN, I can see from you screenshot that you are on v119 while the latest version is v148.
Please download and install the latest version of CCleaner browser via the CCleaner website and let me know if this resolves the issue for you.

I’m showing version 7.8.1414.0. And I have it set to update automatically. When I click on Check for Updates it says new version 7.9.1432.1847. I clicked on Update now but nothing happening.

I did the link you sent and see now that is for a browser which I’ve never used. I just want to make sure the app is working and updating properly.

Hate to argue, but you even posted an image of file explorer ccleaner browser.

In short if you don’t want ccleaner’s browser and it’s not listed in installed apps (is it?) then i’d delete those tasks and the browser folder.
Note I’m another user like you, @Laurence_CCleaner is actually employed by them so he may not feel deletion is the way to go, but it sounds like something (maybe overlooking an offer to install browser while installing ccleaner free) put it there and didn’t do a good install.

@ADGORN, v7.8 and v7.9 are for CCleaner, the cleaning app.
However, the issue you are experiencing is with our web browser, CCleaner Browser.
If you use the link in my previous message, you can update CCleaner Browser, and this should resolve the issue with the task scheduler.
However, if you are not using CCleaner Browser, then as Nergal has suggested, you can uninstall it.
If you have any questions, please message me back.

All good and fixed now. I truly appreciate your help and patience.

@ADGORN, glad to hear the issue has been resolved.
May I ask what you did to resolve the issue?

As you suggested, I uninstalled the browser. Then i restarted my laptop, which i hadn’t done for awhile. The main program was updated, so maybe that had gotten hung up somehow.
