Still Running After 6 Hours: 25 gb Deleted

Subject says it all.

I was trying to help with a friend's computer. She says she deletes cookies and temporary Internet files every month. Normally when I use CC, it usually takes no longer than a minute or two. So far, it's ran for over 6 hours and has deleted 25 gb of info (compared C drive info before and during scan).

Any ideas as to why it's taking this long? What could possibly be on the hard drive that CC has deleted 25 gb (and counting) so far?

All feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi bossfan61, and welcome to the forum.

I was recently on my sons Mac, and I discovered that he had a great deal more than 25gb of stuff in his recycle bin. Cleaning the recycler isn't checked by default in CCleaner, so I'm wondering if she's never actually cleaned that out.

That's my best shot for now. :)

EDIT: Are you, or she, using one of the secure delete options?

What he said.

Windows & CCleaner version?

Had there been any unusual behaviour shown by the machine which prompted her to ask for your help?

Were there any malware/virus problems?

If the answer to these questions is yes I would stop the clean

I neglected to mention that I left the Recycle Bin unchecked, so I believe the 25+ gb of stuff is somewhere else.

Windows 7 Home Premium, most recent CC version before today's new update. Just complaints that it was running slow.

Slow in opening up the browser? Or slow at opening personal files and folders?

It would be best if you ask her.

Is her anti virus up to date and scans coming up clean?
