I have a startup issue. My Shell Hardware Detection service isn't working properly. Whenever I re-boot my laptop, I get wallpaper and not icons for about 10 minutes. Once the desktop finally appears, I get a windows installer box that just keeps installing indefinitely until I do a control, alt, delete and shut it down. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this, and how to fix it?
Do you get any kind of error message?
Is there any indication as to what program the windows installer is trying to install?
What happens in safe mode?
Have you made any changes to your system lately?
