Stage 1 finds the full list of files, Stage 2 and 3 do some further consolidation of info, as far as I know. I usually cancel the scan after Stage 1 and I don't notice any difference (but as I don't run Stage 2 and 3 I wouldn't, would I?).

How do you cancel after Stage 1 and request a recovery? When I canceled after Stage 1 RECUVA closed and the results produced by the hours spent scanning appeared to be lost.
