Hi all,
Recently Speccy and similar programs have started causing my computer to shutdown. After starting speccy it opens on the summary page and loads the following details (in order):
- Optical Drives
- Audio
- Operating System
- CPU
and then the computer shuts down.
The computer runs perfectly otherwise.
I must mention that prior to this I removed a stick of RAM but replaced it shortly after and is still showing up in the computer.
Does anyone know of any similar occurences or solutions? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Is this an instant power down or does Windows logout??

Hi Michael_8:
Kindly uninstall Speccy and let us know if this problem resolves.
What are the other "similar programs" you are referring to?
Interesting that you mention the memory.
Prior to changing the memory, was Speccy on your computer?
If so, did the problem occur then?
Cheers.
The power down is instant and the similar program is the system scanner tool at http://www.crucial.com/.
I had speccy before the change and the problem did not occur.
I am reinstalling speccy now and will update soon.
UPDATE: A reinstall of speccy seems to have fixed it but it was still odd to have happened.
Thanks for your support.

Try also checking your computer for dust.
If speccy and other programs were "causing it", seems like your pc may have been shutting down when it was under stress (causing it to overheat).
Usually, if this happens, it is because of dust in the case on the cooling fins/fans.
I don't think that could have been the problem, I recently cleaned it of dust and before that it still never ran above 40 ?C
