Sound Card Information Question

Hey guys, I did a reinstall of my mother in laws desktop (it was a total mess) and I can't seem to get the sound working. I used the OEM windows disk, everything set up fine and such, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the sound card and/or finding the drivers. I did back up all drivers so i have em, but don't know which driver (there are a ton) should be installed, or how to do it.

Question.

Which program out there would help me find out the sound card type, and then how to find which sound drivers I need? I think i am close, but so far not a go.....

Hi 1984,

You sound tired.Anyhow, Belarc of course. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Run it and

Click on Manufacturer support in System Model on the right.

Then you can get System original and current configuration from the manufacturer.

You can probably download the latest recommended driver from there.

The PC manufacturer has always given me what I need. No hunting needed.

Is it built in sound on the motherboard or a separate sound adapter?

If it is built in sound then it could be Realtek AC97:

What is the model no. of the motherboard?

Hi guys, yeah it's built in on the motherboard i am sure. the mother board is a micro star international co, ltd ms-7061......according to belarc advisor! i had typed a much longer post but forgot to hit add reply....lol........thanks!
