I have another presentation to do. I've decided to recommend Recuva along with CCleaner now.

I understand the $MFT is scanned during a standard scan. And when the deep scan option is used I read that to be that Recuva uses the $MFT in conjunction with a byte-by-byte romp through all the un-used sectors looking for headers. Pretty much standard stuff in my other software.
