As many others have experienced, I found that CCleaner was deleting my User Preferences for WinZip. I kept trying to set the default location for extracting files or creating new archives to be the current folder. But everytime I ran CCleaner, it cut those preferences, and WinZip returned to its defaults.
I searched this site for a solution, but while I found bits and pieces that led me to the answer, I never found a single, clear-cut explanation about how to fix the problem. So, for better or worse, here's my stab at explaining how to stop CCleaner from deleting your WinZip preferences.
- In CCleaner on the left side, click on the "Options" button, the click on "Exclude"
- On the right side of the Exclude window, click on "Add Registry"
- In the "Registry" form, click on the dropdown and select "HKCU"
- In the text box to the right of the drop down, type or paste the following (without the quotation marks):
"\Software\Nico Mak Computing"
That fixed my problem. I hope it can help you with yours.
