The Software updater scan results are inaccurate. They say programmes are out of date when they are not. Give wrong versions as latest. I've compared it to two other well known software programs & they are not accurate either. None of them are worth paying money for.
Software Updaters can often offer you an update before the app itself does.
Some/many apps will say that they are up-to-date for days or even weeks after a new version is availabe.
That is simply because the apps developer is rationing out the update so as not to overload their update server.
Even Windows itself does it, you may not be given a Windows update for days or weeks after it is available.
Rather than checking from within the app itself go to it's website and see what that says the latest version is.
(Although not that sometimes the updaters 'know' of a new version eveb nefore it's announced).
Having said all that - updaters can and do also get things wrong now and again, particularly if the software developers are not consistent with their version numbering.
(eg. an app can say internally that it's v1.0.1.3 but tell Windows Registry that it's v1.0.13 - so which one is it? and is v1.0.2 newer or not?).

[competition software removed]is my favorite Updater program.
It's free for personal use but does require email registration.
Iny my experience, the scan results are accurate even with portable programs.
If you want to try it, the download is at [link removed]
I've removed parts of your post. This is an official website for CCleaner, no competition software mentions are allowed.
Thanks,

OK, I posted it in the Software category of the Computer Help And Discussion section.

Thanks for that helpful suggestion AllanH. I use general software forums mostly and rarely post on software specific forums like this but on this occasion I thought it would be useful as this is also supposed to be a 'community' forum.

It's unlikely I will return here. People have enough to deal with in their lives without this totally unnecessary attitude.
When I use CCleaner, it says it is out of date, but when I try to update it, it says it is up to date. I cannot find the latest version number anywhere on your website. The version for the CCleaner on my computer is 6.20.10897.
