Slow Start up

Nice one dennis, if you noticed in my script i delete it, Pointless i know since it will re spawn every few seconds from system32, but made me feel better lol

Only info i found on it (didn't spend much time looking) was from m$ saying go to add remove etc but the component it listed was not present.

I didn't notice that, sorry.

It's a pest for sure in XP, and best got rid of.

EDIT: Found it.. Annoying ctfmon.exe. :)

I hope, your solution sorts it. Be glad to get rid of it.

yeh it is very annoying :D

Hi Dennis thanks for the suggestion have done that, still on my three minute mile !

I am doing a full Avast,Superantispyware and Malwarebytes scans again to make double sure there`s nothing nasty,

then i`ll defrag..

Something seems to point to Online Armor in that that i tried again to not auto start it up like Hazlenut suggested and

my screen is populated instantly but then i get failures in Avast with the relatime shields being knocked out..

had a quick look at their O.A forum but can`t find anyone having similar

(I think it`s official now from the Significant Other..that the computer is slow and it`s my fault.. because.."you`ve been fiddling about")

I really think your best bet is to uninstall OA, reboot twice, make sure avast is running correctly and then reinstall OA using a trust all option.

Then see how it goes.

There should be no reason using OA and avast that you have this slowdown.

Good News to report !

I`ve done what you have suggested Hazelnut and I uninstalled Online Armor..

I had to check that Avast was running ok..but it was playing up.i was getting program not responding ,so i have uninstalled and reinstalled Avast and now reinstalled O.A

Both seem to be running and behaving themselves yippee !!

I have done a scan to make sure everthing is still as it was

(actually i did a boot scan with Avast and it has found an archive corrupted in windows office, but i will look at this and prob post a quick question about it)

But the great news is..it seems to have worked and now I do not have a three minute wait, everything is there straight away !

So I just want to thank all of you who posted and gave me assistance and ideas it truly is appreciated... :)
