Skip User Account Control ignored

Starting yesterday, CCleaner ignores the "Skip User Account Control " setting.

I tried changing all settings to default. Then unistalled CCleaner and made a fresh install of the latest version, but the problem persists.

Have used CC for many years, never seen a problem before, haven't changed anything, or added anything new to system.

Win8.1 64Bit, Acer laptop, avast9 Pro, Malwarebytes Pro,

Hey you have a problem like me... Maybe is the bug from ccleaner..

My problem: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=40327

Oh well .......... Piriform obviously don't care , CCleaner was the best application of this type, but that is no longer the case. Comments here and around the net prove this program is just not what it was.

As it won't run correctly or obey the setttings applied, the only choice is to delete it from the system.

CCleaner uninstalled and replaced.

No answer probably means that no one knows how to help and they don't want to give questionable advice.

All the members and moderators here are volunteers, with varying levels of familiarity with CCleaner.

The development team reads all these posts, and makes improvements with each new version.

Until they fix your issue, you could reinstall an earlier version that worked OK for you.

Old versions are available at Filehippo.

aha ......... like I said, changing the installed version makes zero difference.

The correct registry value is set to skip UAC,CCleaner simply ignores this.

Running at boot time fails beacuse the UAC is now called.

just make sure that you have $(Arg0) for the task arguments

maybe you can delete the task and reinstall Ccleaner

Also it seems to help to set the task to run as Windows 7

Also it seems to help to set the task to run as Windows 7

?? That would suggest CCleaner is not compatible with Windows 8 ........ and has not been required fro the app to run previously.

Have tried deleting the task, and making a clean install .......... does not work.

Looking at the task properties, CCleaner fails to load the task, there are several error/failure codes.

Could you please enlighten us as to what is supposed to be a superior alternative to CCleaner? I think I will soon be in the market to replace CC myself. I just installed two 64-bit 8.1U1 systems and both of them trigger the UAC at login (CCleaner starting at login) and when launched manually. I have a desktop that began its life at 64-bit 8 and has been updated continuously to the most recent patches, and CCleaner doesn't trigger UAC prompt. WTF? These are both HTPCs and the prompt is a pain in the ass.

Posting and linking to competitive products isn't allow per the Piriform owner instructions, so the post would only get edited or deleted if someone posts something like that.

I have this problem too, sometimes it will open ok but sometimes I get the warning, even though the box to ignore it has been checked on a previous occasion - have to go back and check it again.
