Share your ideas for CCleaner 6.0!

Hi, thanks for asking. It would be great if we could move the "Browser Closed" window that opens whenever we close a browser. It takes up a lot of space, and would be great to be able to move it out of the way.

You can already turn that notification off in Smart Cleaning.

Set it to "Automatically clean without notification" for the browser(s) you use and it will clean on closing without the popup.

Custom Clean fits my laptop screen perfectly, so why do I have to scroll down Health Check before I can see the Scan PC button at the bottom?

If the illustration at the top of Health Check was smaller, scrolling wouldn't be necessary.

This thread begins in 2021, I hope two years later someone reads this in 2023...

Using CCleaner for Mac 2.8.173 as an info item the app reports CPU temperature in Farenheit. System temps are seldomly reported in F, usually reported in Celsius. This should be changed, or made a settings toggle.

I have 32bit apps that I heavily rely on so I will not update my system to the 64bit only version of MacOS. If this has been corrected in later versions, well, so be it.

Hey there-would it be possible to put in an automatic feature for okaying/saying yes to the prompts that come up in the middle of the cleaning like the “would you like to close the open browser etc.”? It’s somewhat annoying to come back while I’m working on other things and see the prompt window there and having to click on it. It’d save time to just have an automatic yes in place. Also could you put back in the number of trackers that were removed? You used to have that in the software and it’s nice to see how many were on my laptop. Thanks! Mark

Hi @MarcusC77

The option to automatically close a browser etc. isn’t there so that users don’t close them by mistake. (and then complain that CCleaner ‘lost’ an important browser session).

There is however already an automatic ‘No’ to the closing.
It you tick the box not to show the message again then CCleaner will ‘Skip’ the cleaning and continue without doing the browser (or whatever it was that needed closing).
It’s not quite what you were asking, but will let the clean finish.
Note that if you do that then you will not be asked again, so will be unable to have CCleaner close the browser for you and it will be Skipped whenever it is open. (In that case you will need to fully close the browser, maybe using Task Manager, before CCleaner can clean it).

As for “Trackers”.
That was actually just a scary sounding name that early versions of Health Check used to use for common or garden Cookies
(The industry name for a marketing cookie is ‘a Tracking Cookie’).

The use of the name “Trackers” in the early versions of Health Check led some users to panic that they had spyware actively tracking their keystrokes, looking through their webcams, etc., etc. which of course was not the case, they were just cookies.

After a number of complaints the Health Check developers relented and started to call them what everybody else calls them, simply ‘cookies’.

For more about what Tracking Cookies actually are see:

Tracking cookies are types of computer cookies that marketers use to target you and retarget you with ads that may interest you based on your browsing habits. Some of the most common third-party tracking cookies originate from technology giants like Facebook or Google.

Are tracking cookies spyware?

While tracking cookies raise some privacy concerns, we wouldn’t call them spyware, because unlike spyware, they don’t operate secretively, damage your computer, or are hard to stop. In fact, you can stop tracking by deleting these cookies or disabling third-party cookies in your browser.

Bring back V6 and bring back cookie whistlisting is my suggestion…..

I agree, I want version 6 back. Version 7 does not work the same and I do not like it at all! I want a tool that will simply clear out the Windows Registry without affecting cookies, browser history or anything else. Version 6 worked very nicely for this and its the most important single function I need from the application’.
