When I try to install an updated version I get the message "Error opening file for writing: H:\temp ccleaner\CCleaner.exe" I don't have an H drive. I've tried running the install as administrator but I get the same error. Has anyone any suggestions?
What operating system are you running?
Where are you getting the ccleaner download from?
Is ccleaner already open when you are trying to install the updated version?
Were you actually logged in as an administrator when you tried to install?
I'm running Windows 10.
I've tried with downloads from Piriform, from FileHippo and from Cnet.
I've tried both with CCleaner still open and with it closed. The only thing I've not done is to uninstall the current version in case I can't install it again.
I'm the only user and shown as administrator.
You can update using the portable ZIP version, instructions here:
Thanks for your help; I've followed this and it works fine. Presumably I'll have to do this for all updates in future.
You'd only need to use that workaround of using the Portable build until they fix whatever is causing setup errors on multiple different versions of Windows for some users.
