Hello, I’ve been using CCleaner for several years to optimize my PC’s performance. I’d like to report a rather unpleasant incident that requires your feedback. Last summer, I updated my PC to Windows 11 and for a few months I didn’t experience any issues. Then, about a month ago, after running the usual optimization checks with CCleaner, I saw that it recommended updating some drivers, including the audio driver. Since I had already used that service in the past, I started the driver update procedure. For three downloads, there were no problems, but the audio driver stopped during the download, automatically restarting the PC. The following day, I tried the operation again, but it also failed, repeatedly causing the PC to restart. Then, during normal operation, the computer froze, preventing me from even restarting it. After countless attempts to fix the situation using the HP recovery program, I managed to get into safe mode and recover all my PC data. I had to completely format the computer and reinstall the operating system, causing me considerable inconvenience. The absurd thing is that when I reloaded CCleaner, it kept prompting me to update drivers even though I had just downloaded them from official channels. Reading online, I read that other users have had serious problems like mine using your software. Has anyone had the same problem and can explain what might have caused everything to freeze up and cause such inconvenience? I await your response, especially because without clear answers, I don’t think I’ll proceed with the next renewal of my subscription, which expires in the next few months. Thank you.
Have a read of:
If you have messed up one or more drivers using CCleaner then open the driver updater and try the “Fix a Problem” button.
Thanks so much for your reply, I think I’ll cancel my CCleaner subscription at this point. If I can’t trust myself to update drivers or software, risking damaging my system, there’s little point in paying.
I have been using CCleaner for at least a decade and have always liked it until now. I updated my drivers using CCleaner now my C drive will not boot. I get an error message saying (your device ran into a problem and couldn’t be repaired). I regret renewing my subscription. I had a restore point, but it can not be found now. Luckily I had mirrored my C drive onto another drive, but it is still taking hours to repair. Best of luck,I will no longer be using CCleaner.

Hi gray-falcon, your issue is exactly what happened to me a couple of months ago. I don’t understand why they haven’t fixed this serious driver update issue yet.
