Scrolling in tools

Hello

I was just in tools to select a program to uninstall and I was able to scroll down but not back up again. I am using latest installed version of Pro. Not just this is a bug or not. I guess it depends on if others are having this issue. I never had it on all other versions.

g'day ticklemefeet and welcome.

what is your OS and CC version?

how are you scrolling; arrow keys, mouse wheel, sidebars?

do any of those methods work?

Hi mta

Windows 10 Home, Version 1803, Build 17134.81

CCleaner version, 5.43.6522

I can scroll down using the mouse wheel but not back up. I can not use sidebars or arrow keys.

Thanks

and just to check, you can scroll up using the mouse wheel in, say, Word?

firstly, try another reinstall, you never know;

uninstall your current version first.

then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents

(keep the .ini file if you have customised settings)

download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file.

leave it at the Free version for know and test your scrolling works.

if yes, plug in the license key to make it Pro.

if still no luck, try going back to an earlier version, available from FileHippo.

there are many users with Kaspersky and/or MalwareBytes that are having issues with the v5.43 build, do you use those at all?

I can scroll up and down in word.

I uninstalled Malwarebytes with their tool rebooted. Uninstalled CCleaner, rebooted, downloaded new version, installed, rebooted, left in free mode, still no scroll back up.

I could not find an older version on File Hippo

Well installing an older version did not work, however I figured out what the problem. I thought I would exit out of Spyshelter and sure enough, I was able to scroll normally again.

And so for what ever reason one of Spyshelters options is causing this. I was able to install latest version of CCleaner and with Spyshelter off, able to scroll again just fine.

I might try disabling Spyshelters options one by one out of curiosity just to see if I can find it.

Thanks

and don't forget to put MalwareBytes back on. ;)

glad you found the culprit, and please let us know on you get on with Spyshelter settings, it may help others.

I for one had not heard of that software so will be giving it a bit of a squizz.

mta

I did disable modules one by one and saw no difference. Then only setting that worked was to disable the very top setting. Protection status = off.

Hope that helps. Spyshelter is common in the security forums. Please post here what you find between CCleaner and Spyshelter.

Thanks

I gave it a spin but didn't find a need for it in my setup.

with the security settings in Win10 these days, and my adblocker, MalwareBytes Premium, Windows Defender and HOSTS file, I sort of have covered everything Spyshelter offers.

it did seem to be a nice wide-coverage security program though and if it was still in the XP or Win7 days, I'd probably have it on my PC's.

And so did you test it with CCleaner? My main concern was to get the bug fixed. Am working with Spyshelter support but they seem kinda dense.

doh!, that would have been a good idea.... hang tight, I'll test that theory.

what version of Spyshelter are you running?

the free anti keylogger hasn't been supported since October 2016.

I installed the 14day trial of the premium version and had no trouble scrolling up or down in CC - but then, I'm leaving my CC version at 5.40 until the mess that is 5.42 gets resolved.
