Scanning A Program!

Well I want to know if anyone can please scan a software called GameBooster and tell me if it's freeware.

When the program was released I had no problems with it but recently I've heard alot of people complain about their antivirus considering it as a malware/virus.

Can anyone scan it for me and let me know if it was any type of malware in it?

The program is from IObit and the version is 1.21..Program can be download in the IObit site or in majorgeeks.com.

Thanks in advance. ;)

Avira didn't detect that freeware as Malware/Virus.I still used GB version 1.1 and worked pretty well. ;). I'd think it could be False Positive.

what antivirus do you use ? Try to scan the installer of GB 1.21 with VIRUSTOTAL.

Here the Resultsfrom its forum.

IObits programs in the past used to be considered non-intrusive adware which didn't infect a PC, they just had that side bar load a webpage showing offers of their own software which is no different than downloading a "freeware" program that displays 'upgrade to pro' just think AntiVir Free Antivirus, AVG Free Antivirus, and even Avast Home Edition when trying to use a Pro feature, use those for current valid references as we're all to some degree using some adware albeit non-intrusive adware. Non-intrusive adware can be annoying but also not harmful. I don't know however about GB.

And do use VirusTotal and/or Jotti to scan it. For pretty much any software you download a good practice to follow which is what I do:

1. Scan it with all your installed anti-malware software (antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, etc).

2. Unpack the installer with 7-Zip, however if that doesn't work try to unpack it with Universal Extractor then scan the unpacked files with your installed anti-malware software which includes your antivirus, and with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, and whatever else scanners you have installed.

Edit:

Also you can't realistically expect others to scan the software you want to use for malware it's your own responsibility, and there's many good freeware tools available for you to accomplish the task on your own in a short amount of time.
