Seems to only affect the 840 and 840 EVO solid state disks, note the temporary fix listed.

I've noticed a slowdown for years on my USB thumb drives. What I've always did is copy the contents to the desktop into a new folder, format the USB thumb drive, and finally copy everything back onto it.

Yep, this is how you defrag them and move the bad blocks out
