I have installed the ccleaner but when I go to use it I get runtime error 5. I have deleted it, installed the visual basic files, reinstalled over and over but still can't use it. I have installed it at work with no problems but my home computer keeps giving me the runtime error 5. Any suggestions on how to make it work? Thanks for any help.

try installing all of that.
I did all of that and I am still getting the same error message. I am so frustrated I could scream. Any ideas?
I have attached the error message.
im not sure. it looks like your running windows 98, am i right?
also, have you restarted your computer yet?
try uninstalling CCleaner, rebooting, then re-installing it.
just please dont scream!
EDIT: make sure you have the latest version of VB, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

I am running windows xp professional and have downloaded the latest version of VB, deleted ccleaner, rebooted, reinstalled and the same error. Any other ideas? Thanks so much
ive run out of ideas as to what it could be.
EDIT: one last idea, try installing it in safe mode.
I don't know if this is the proper recommendation or not, but perhaps if you download Dial-a-fix (the link is in my signature under this post) then click Tools, Repair permissions.
